When you upgrade a service, ask for reimbursement on overage

Here's a frugal hack that will help you save money when your cell phone provider (or any company for this case) gets vulnerable to overage charges. If you play your card correctly, you will not accept any additional charge blindly by standing in front of a greater opportunity to remove them. Here's what you need to know ...

Verizon Example

Along with two teenagers with a smartphone, my family was constantly going on our data plan every month and was struggling with Verizon's Overage Charge.

So when I finally got an empty moment to analyze our Verizon account, I realized that we need to upgrade the unlimited data plan because Overage was killing us.

So I went ahead and started a chat session with Verizon. I like to chat instead of a call because it is not easy to reach and get distracted.

At first I was not with a chat representative anywhere but I remained and finally I got the answer that I was looking for.

I told the representative that since I was upgrading to a more expensive monthly plan, therefore, the overage could reduce the charge and reduce the Verizon.

I stuck to my guns and the rap finally gave me and said that they would give me $ 45 back.

Will this work for other carriers?

It should work with AT & T, Sprint, or T-Mobile at all.

It should also work with other service companies where you charge overage charges.

DSL internet and broadband internet jump with the maximum usage policies before you charge additional charges.

final thoughts…
Be sure to follow up and ensure that the charges have actually been removed from your bill.

It's easy to forget about the chat session, this is why I always take a screenshot of the conversation and make a note to check my account in a week or two.

Good luck and happiness.
